Long exposure from Brooklyn, and thanks to my Photoplus Expo friends!

View from Brooklyn of Manhattan with pier and east river
This "calm before the storm" image was photographed in Brooklyn overlooking pilings that create leading lines towards the NYC skyline. The weather was gray and misty, creating a great opportunity to work with black and white conversion through Nik Silver Efex Pro. A long exposure creates a serene look with the choppy water, a neutral density filter extends the exposure time. If you would like to expand on your long exposure photography skills, please join me for my four week course on Long Exposure Creativity starting in December. Although November is full, registration will open soon next month at BetterPhoto.com. I'd love to have you in class. We'll have a lot of fun and cover everything long exposure related from shooting during midday to the edge of night and beyond.

I had a great time at PhotoPlus Expo! It was so nice to catch up with wonderful old friends, and meet the greatest new friends! Thanks to everyone who introduced themselves, and shared great shooting locations too. Big thanks to Jason Odell who was my wingman last week, we led a photo tour through Central Park with a fantastic group of photographers, plus we shot at other beautiful places in NYC.  (*We have some great photo workshops coming up, see below)! A big thank you to Tiffen, Nik Software, F-Stop Gear and Digital Silver Imaging for making our photo walk such a huge success! I enjoyed speaking for Tiffen about long exposure creativity, optical filters, and sharing a few ideas for Tiffen Dfx software! Hope to see everyone at Photoplus Expo next year! ~ Deb
