Adding Texture Overlays to Photographs...

Edge of Night, Lake Monroe in Florida
Textures are a great way to add depth and dimension to a photograph without going over the top with filters and effects. It's easy to apply a texture overlay to a photo, it just takes the right type of texture to make it work. One of my favorite "go-to" textures is from Flypaper Summer Painterly collection, Icy Rose. The color in the texture brings out the existing pink in the sky, the painterly brushstrokes add a little drama to the image. I like to use Mini Bridge in Photoshop to choose a texture, and try it out with a photo. Here's a link on how to apply textures to your photographs. You can photograph your own textures too.
